St. Charles, Missouri (September 17, 2021) – The St. Louis Ambush continue solidifying their roster ahead of the 2021-22 season. The team announced two free agent signings today. Veteran goalkeeper Rafael Dias is signed through the 2025-26 season, while forward Marcel Berry is signed through 2023-24.  Per league and team policies, no further details were disclosed.

Rafael Dias (who goes by Rafa), a native of Recife, Brazil, began his professional indoor soccer career with the Detoit Waza Flo in 2015. After one season in Detroit, he joined the Milwaukee Wave for the next four seasons. He skipped the pandemic-shortened 2021 season. Dias is an accomplished keeper, with a 25-26 career win loss record with a .716 save percentage and 5.28 goals-against average.

Marcel Berry appeared in 18 games during his 2019-20 rookie season with the Harrisburg Heat, tallying five goals and five assists. He also sat out the abbreviated 2021 season. Berry is a native of Charlottesville, Virginia. Marcel’s collegiate career was spent at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he made 70 appearances, starting in 67.

Ambush co-owner and General Manager Jeff Locker said, “Today’s signings bring the Ambush another starting-quality goalkeeper in Rafa Dias and another promising player in Marcel Berry. We expect both to contribute to our success in the coming season and beyond.”

The Ambush will kick off their 2021-22 season in late November with the home opener slated for Black Friday, November 26. Fans can stay current on all Ambush news by visiting the team’s official website, stlambush.com and on social media outlets.
