ADAMSON TO COACH AMBUSH 2 TEAM

by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, Missouri (July 30, 2024) – The St. Louis Ambush have chosen Corey Adamson as head coach of the Ambush 2 team in the Major Arena Soccer League 2, the organization announced today. The A2 squad kicks off their second season this fall.

Adamson is one of the original members of the Ambush, making the team in the club’s first open tryouts in 2013 and scoring the first goal in franchise history. He became a fan favorite thanks fo this intensity and enthusiasm, along with his involvement in the community.

Corey enjoyed a playing career that spanned a dozen seasons. He played with the Las Vegas Legends (PASL), Milwaukee Wave (MASL), Cedar Rapids Rampage (MASL), Orlando SeaWolves (MASL) and three different stints with the Ambush during eight different seasons.

Adamson’s coaching experience includes several area soccer clubs, assistant coach of the Orlando SeaWolves, and head coach of the Memphis Americans in the rival National Indoor Soccer League (NISL), where he guided the Memphis women’s squad to the NISL 2021-22 Women’s Championship and the men’s team to the championship game on this way to winning the league’s Coach of the Year honor. In 138 career games in the MASL and NISL combined, Corey tallied 77 goals and 51 assists.

Corey is also a two-sport pro, having played as a kicker with the St. Louis Attack and River City Raiders arena football teams.

Adamson is excited about the new opportunity. He said, “I am incredibly excited for this opportunity. I believe heavily in the M2 platform, its mission, and the opportunity it provides players to develop into tier one players. The indoor game is such an intensely fast-paced game that requires almost instinctual positioning and timing, developed over several years. There are so many superstars in this league that couch-surfed and rode the bench their first two to three years in the league because of this. M2 gives those players valuable minutes that fast-track their maturation. I am grateful to be a part of that process.”

Ambush co-owner and CEO Shelly Clark said, “Corey was the first player the Ambush signed back in 2013. He knows this organization; he knows and lives in this community and is passionate about the growth and development of young players. I've watched him on the field for the last decade, and I'm excited to watch him thrive in this new role."

Ambush co-owner, GM and head coach Jeff Locker said, “We are excited to bring Corey on as Head Coach of Ambush 2. Ambush Assist Coach, Donnie Alberty will be moving into having a more significant role with M1 and both he and Corey will work together to scout and identify talent to build both teams. Corey's experience in the game will benefit the players on A2 to work towards obtaining a M1 contract, which is our goal with having a team in the second division of the Major Arena Soccer League.”

The Ambush will kick off their twelfth season when they take the field at The Family Arena this fall. Season tickets are now on sale. Call the Ambush office at 636-477-6363 for more information.
