AMBUSH RE-SIGN DEFENDER ARAUJO
St. Charles, Missouri (August 1, 2024) – The St. Louis Ambush have re-signed veteran defender Raphael Araujo through the 2024-25 season, the team announced today.
The 2024-25 season will be Araujo’s fourth in the Major Arena Soccer League. He was acquiired by the Ambush in a January trade with the Baltimore Blast. He appeard in nine games with the Blast and seven with the Ambush during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring a combined 10 goals, adding three assists and blocking seven opposing shots. He also played with the Florida Tropics (2022-23) and Harrisburg Heat (2021-2023). He has also been a member of the US National Futsal Team
A native of Bound Brook, New Jersey, Araujo played collegiate soccer New Jersey City University and Rutgers-Newark University. He was the first All-American in Rutgers-Newark history. Throughout his college career he earned two All-NJAC first team awards and NJAC Offensive player of the year. Following his college career, Raphael played for Icon FC, American soccer team from New Jersey that played in the professional American Soccer League (ASL). Then went on to play for NJ Copa FC in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL).
