AMBUSH SIGN FREE AGENT FORWARD AXEL CHAKOUNTE
St. Charles, Missouri (December 26, 2024) – The St. Louis Ambush signed free agent forward Axel Chakounte to a two-year deal, the team announced today.
Chakounte hails from Douala, Cameroon. The 2024-25 season is his third in the Major Arena Soccer League. He previously spent time with the Dallas Sidekicks and the Mesquite/Texas Outlaws. In 42 career MASL games, Chakounte scored 15 goals, added four assists and blocked six opposing shots. He also has postseason experience, having appeared in three playoff games with the 2022-23 Mesquite Outlaws. Chakounte also played for the Houston Bolt, a semi-professional indoor soccer team in the Premier Arena Soccer League.
Ambush co-owner, General Manager and Head Coach Jeff Locker said, “Even though our season is underway, we are always open to adding talented players who we feel will help out team. We feel Axel is that type of player and look forward to his contributions.”
Chakounte said, “I am excited to be part of the Ambush family and am ready to work and help the team in any way that I can.” Chakuonte enjoys reading science fiction and working out and says he developed a love of soccer at a young age; having a soccer ball before he could crawl.
The Ambush will be back in action Saturday, December 28 when they do battle with the Missouri rival Kansas City Comets at 6:05 p.m. CT at the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence.
